In a notable development, Infosys, India’s second-largest technology outsourcing company, is encouraging its workforce to embrace a return to the office environment, urging employees to attend at least three days a week. The management at Infosys is reportedly considering making in-person attendance mandatory in the near future, signaling a departure from the prevailing trend of remote work.
The call for a return to the office comes on the heels of unsuccessful attempts by Infosys management to restore a regular office routine, with employees showing resistance to the traditional work setting. Notably, Infosys cofounder NR Narayana Murthy has been vocal about the significance of a 70-hour work week, asserting that it is crucial for boosting productivity and fostering economic growth.
According to a report by ET, vertical heads of the Bengaluru-based software company communicated the directive to employees via email, stating, “Please start coming to the office at least 3 days a week.
In a separate communication, Infosys has announced the reintroduction of charges for bus services, with a daily fee of Rs 150 and a monthly cap at Rs 1,500, effective from January 3, as reported by ET.
Infosys, under the leadership of Salil Parekh, witnessed a reduction in its workforce by over 7,500 associates in the second quarter of this year.
